2015 is a severe year for tablet PC manufacturers. As reported by IDC, the global tablet
PC shipment in 2015 Q1 is 47,100,000 pieces, less than 50 million in the same period 2014. Up to now, the global tablet PC sales has glided continuously for two quarters, especially
iPad, which shipment is only 1260,000 pieces and drops sharply by 22.9%.
Even though it is decreasing in the whole tablet PC sales, the sales of tablet with call
function and two in one tablet is increasing quickly. In the market share, iPad is still the
No. 1 with 26.8%, which is influenced by iphone6 and iPhone 6 Plus and will continue to
decrease in the future. The second is Samsung with 9 million shipment. Compared with
the same period in 2014, its shipment decrease by 16.5%. However, Chinese tablet PC
manufacturers-Lenovo shows a surprising result: 2,500,000 pieces with 5.3% market share, which has
increased 23% compared to the same period last year.
In four years, there has been more than 2,000 manufacturers marching into tablet PC
market. With the sharp decreasing of global tablet PC sales, tablet PC manufacturers
has been suffering industrial shuffle. If manufacturers continue to preach on the recreation
experience of tablet PC, which is conflicted with big screen smart phone, they will be
kicked out of the market. If manufacturers develop their products on enterprises and
education, it will be valueable. The contents provided by tablet PC ecosystem is great
useful for enterprises and education market. The demand and practical value of Tablet PC will be much higher than entertainment market once the quality content is provided for
enterprises and education. This is the only way to save the tablet PC market.
