As pertains to large-screened smart phones, mobile phone manufacturers launch smart phones with big
screens continually to catch consumers’ eyes, bigger, the biggest.
For mobile phone users, how big is big enough? Does anyone remember the 4.65-inch Galaxy Nexus? The 4.7-inch HTC Titan? These were the 'crazy' phablets of days past. Today, these are both
considered medium-sized flagships. In just a few short years, we went from being horrified at the thought
of anything exceeding 4 inches, to a state where those appear tiny, even when
compared to the mini versions of popular top-shelf models. So, are we in for another round? Are the below listed giants on path to
become the new standard? Or are we reaching a fundamental limit? We sure would
like to join voices with the seemingly outraged community, yet we're a tad jittery, and
can't quite muster up the courage to make a definitive statement, all things considered.
In any case, it does seem like the phablet category will endure, and, if anything, is
growing more diverse. And ever larger, of course. In the end, bar price considerations,
these are small, voice calls-capable tablets in super-'compact' bodies. The following are big mobile phone manufacturers in the world who
can provide users the largest mobile phones, including Huawei, ZTE, Micromax,
Archos, Pulm and so on:
1. The 7-inch Huawei MediaPad X1
The 7-inch MediaPad X1 by Huawei is one giant phone. Unlike tablets with a similar
display
diagonal, the X1 is more a phone than a tablet, evident by its slim bezels all around. In
comparison, most 7-inch tablets tower above it.
The MediaPad X1 sports a quad-core HiSilicon Kirin 910 processor, has 2GB of RAM, and makes use of a 13MP rear
The MediaPad X1 sports a quad-core HiSilicon Kirin 910 processor, has 2GB of RAM, and makes use of a 13MP rear
camera. The battery unit powering the giant phablet has a capacity of 5000 mAh,
which is enormous.
2.The 7-inch BLU Studio 7.0
Miami-based BLU has been gaining traction as of late, largely on the back of mostly Chinese
handsets that it then sells under its own brand. If you're looking for a giant phone,
however, then the 7-inch (600 x 1024) Studio 7.0 is a good budget choice. It features
a dual-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz, has 1GB of RAM, and sports a 5-megapixel rear camera. The entire thing is powered by a 3000 mAh battery.
3. The 7 inch Celkon Xion s CT695
Another Android heavyweight, the 7-inch (600 x 1024) Celkon Xion s CT695 (what a mouthful!) is one big device. The specs
on board are less than ideal, though – it's got a dual-core MediaTek MT8132 processor, 1GB of RAM, a 5-megapixel rear camera, and a 2500 mAh battery.
4. The 7-inch CoolPad Great God/Halo
CoolPad took the veil off its gargantuan, 7-inch Great God (CoolPad Halo for the west) at CES2014 a while ago. The Chinese
mobile phone manufacturer is little-known in the US and Europe, but it's actually one of the largest local manufacturers,
and appears intent on sticking around. The 1080x1920 resolution screen is powered
by MediaTek's new octa-core MT6592 chipset, 2GB of RAM and a 4000mAh battery.
5. The 6.95-inch Cube Talk 69
Another native mobile phone manufacturer of China, Cube, after a period of teasers,
finally released information about its 6.95-inch, 1080p Talk 69 phablet a while ago. Along with a competitive price tag of about
$247 for the Chinese market, the massive phone also comes equipped with a 2GHz,
octa-core MT6592 chip, 2GB of RAM, a 13-megapixel camera and a 3100mAh
capacity cell.
6.The 6.8 inch Huawei PaMax
The largest, most recent phablet on the market happens to be Huawei's P8Max,
released at the end of May 2015. It lugs around a 6.8-inch display with a 1080x1920 pixel resolution, a home-made, octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 930 processor and 3 gigs of RAM, a 13-megapixel camera with optical image stabilization, and a massive, 4,360 mAh cell.
7. The 6.8 inch Hisense X1
Chinese Hisense showcased its behemoth, 6.8-inch X1 phablet during CES2014 in Las Vegas, and promised US availability by the
end of Q2 2014. The giant device sports an IPS LCD panel with a resolution of
1080x1920, a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset, a 13-megapixel camera and a healthy, 3900 mAh cell. It is said that the X1 will come
packing Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box.
sticking around. The 1080x1920 resolution screen is powered by MediaTek's new
octa-core MT6592 chipset, 2GB of RAM and a 4000mAh battery.
8. The 6.4-inch ZTE Nubia X6
Nubia, a daughter company of ZTE, has been hard at work lately, and one of the fruits
that labor bore is the X6. This massive, 6.4-inch phablet has it all: a beastly quad-core Snapdragon 801 chipset, 3GB of RAM, a 13MP shooter with OIS, and an
enormous, 4250 mAh cell.
9. The 6.4-inch Archos 64 Xenon
French Archos also won itself a spot in our super-sized chart with the humongous,
6.4-inch 64 Xenon. The phablet's screen has a 720p resolution and is powered by a
quad-core MediaTek MT6582 processor and 1GB of RAM. Also on-board is an 8MP rear camera and a not-so-generous, 2800 mAh cell.
10. The 6-inch Micromax Canvas Doodle 3
Micromax's Canvas Doodle 3 is no flagship — it sports low-end specs such as a dual-core MediaTek MT6572 processor, 1GB of RAM, a 5-megapixel main camera, and a 2,500 mAh battery. At the equivalent of about $120,
however, and with a 6-inch diagonal (480x854), this is one hell of an affordable phablet!
11. The 6-inch Plum Coach Plus II
If you're looking for a cheap, large phablet, then you can grab the 6-inch (720 x 1280) Plum Coach Plus II off Amazon for about $150 right now. That kind of
money gets you a quad-core MediaTek MT6582M processor, 512MB of RAM, an
8-megapixel rear camera, and 2400 mAh battery.
