How can Android Phone Manufacturers Survive in the Market?

Android phone manufacturers are in a humble condition gradually with the brand 

enhancing of Apple. Preferring of Android system makes manufacturers have no 

discourse power in the upstream of industry chain. Their brands are repressed because 

of the double shortage of core control in hardware and software.

With the double rising of Iphone and iOS, Android phones brand continually becomes 

low end. Compared with iOS closed system, Android open system is poor in software 

access, operation, process management and system experience. No matter Samsung 

or a small brand in a local market, all the Android phone manufacturers are in Android 

system. For Google, it has no plan to promote Android brands, because Android 

operation system does not bring profit in hardware and its profit mode is to make users 

search with Google. It needs the manufacturers scale which can form users scale and 

the mutual balance and competition between manufacturers in the Android system to 

keep its discourse power. If Android mobile phone manufacturers can not breakthrough 

in system, they must adopt fierce price war. Oppositely, the unique iPhone becomes 

more and more popular.

Android has built a homogenization and open competitive market. In the developing 

period, manufacturers can develop quickly with Android system. When it is in mature 

and saturated period,the whole alliance can not avoid the fierce competition of 

homogenization. At present, the whole OEM industry has been in serious polarization. 

Brand concentration is higher and higher, and the space for small brands and copycats 

is smaller and smaller, which leads to the OEM factories in a harder position. As a result, there will be more and more OEM factories and parts suppliers facing with stop production 

or break up.

When the phone industry comes into mature period, Android phone manufacturers 

should strengthen their innovation, build brand influence and eco-system. Research on mobile phone with android system is less competitive and little 

profit. The manufacturers will soon be out of the market who depend on price and 

hardware only. Some of the manufacturers use the customized system based on 

Android system, such as OMS, Ali cloud OS, MIUI and so on, but it is not enough. 

It is said that Huawei is developing their own independent operation system Kirin OS, 

which is a good start for Android phone manufacturers.
