Qualcomm- Anti-monopoly Has No Influence on Its Strategic Planning in 2015

On 26th, Nov, 2014, CNMO had an exclusive interview with Dan Novak, the global vice 

marketing president in Qualcomm, and talked about anti-monopoly, 2015 strategic 

planning in 2015 and business expansion at the same time.

When talking about the anti-monopoly inspection on Qualcomm that concerned a lot at 

present, Dan says the strategic planning in 2015 will not adjust only because of 

anti-monopoly inspection, and it will continue steadily. From the surface, we can know 

that the inspection does not make big influence on Qualcomm at least.

Also, the IC design companies that compete with Qualcomm is mentioned. Dan says in 

the past decades, there are too much competition in IC industry and so does in the future. 

Even though there will be more IC design companies, some powerful competitors really 

exist. Qualcomm think competition is a good thing and it will be good for the whole 

ecosystem. Competition is welcome in Qualcomm, and in every good company, 

competition only can make them become better.

Qualcomm shows the shipment of Qualcomm chipsets and the smart terminal products 

that apply Qualcomm solution in 2014. The MSM chipset shipment arrives 861 million 

and Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset platform used in Android system has been more than 

1 billion around the world. Qualcomm are optimistic about the future smart phone market 

and says that the global shipment of 3G/4G terminal is predicted to increase to 1.5 billion 

in 2015.
