War of 4G LTE Chipset in 2015

With Spectrum 4G LTE chipset upgrading to single chipset solution, and new 4G 

chipset R&D by Leadcore and Mi phone, it will break the old prospect, which is 

controlled by Qualcomm, MTK and Marvell. There are five competitors in the 4G 

chipset in 2015. Even though Qualcomm dominate 4G chipset market in a short 

period, facing with MTK, Marvell, Spectrum and Leadcore, it is predicted that 

the price of 4G chipset in 2015 will continue to decrease an will drop to USD 7-8 

in the first half year.

In the mobile phone supply chain, Qualcomm will hold the high end 4G LTE chipset  

market, MTK and Marvell is in the middle and low end market, Spectrum and Leadcore 

will strike from the low end mobile phone market. It will be price war among IC 

designers in 2015.

As we all know, with huge investment on 4G LTE chipset product line but quick drop 

in price, Broadcom has announced to quit from 4G mobile phone chipset market. There 

will be other IC designers dropping out this field gradually, and the action among 

chipset manufacturers, will also make the global mobile phone chipset market fall 

into unrest in 2015.
